Luma the Little Cloud

Ages 3-6

High in the soft morning sky floated a tiny cloud named Luma. She was small and round, like a little puff of cotton. Every morning, the wind came to guide the clouds across the sky. The big clouds always went first. They stretched wide and drifted off in long, fluffy lines. Luma waited for her turn. She gave her edges a little wiggle.

"I'm here. I'm ready!" Luma said.

But the wind didn't hear her. It pushed the big clouds forward, one after another.

"Um, I'm still here!" Luma said.

The wind swished past without stopping. Soon, all the other clouds were drifting away, and Luma was floating alone.

"The wind forgot me," Luma said.

She curled her tiny puff in close, small and round and quiet. Her tummy felt achy... Not loud, just a soft, sad feeling. For a moment, the whole sky felt still. Then a tiny breeze, much smaller than the wind, brushed under her.

"Hello, Luma," Breeze said.

"Oh, hey, Tiny Breeze!" Luma said.

"I was looking for you. I came as soon as I could. Your tiny glow helped me find you," Breeze said.

"I glow?" Luma said.

"You do. I saved a moment for us," Breeze said.

Luma uncurled just a bit.

"Really? You didn't forget me?" Luma said.

"Never. Want to drift together?" Breeze said.

"Yes, please," Luma said.

The tiny breeze lifted her slowly. Luma wiggled her puff again, this time in a happy way.

"Where are we going?" Luma said.

"Somewhere the big clouds missed," Breeze said.

They drifted along a low, glowing path above the fields. The sunlight touched Luma's sides and made her shimmer.

"I didn't know I could shine like this," Luma said.

"That's because this moment was yours," Breeze said.

Luma floated quietly, feeling warm on the inside.

"I don't feel left out anymore," Luma said.

"Sometimes when you feel left out, something gentle can find its way to you," Breeze said.

"I'm glad you came for me," Luma said.

And so Luma and the tiny breeze moved together across the morning sky, slow, calm, and just right.
